Description

Maikop to Baku 1942 is an operational level, two-player game covering the Caucasus campaign in 1942. The assumption of the game is that Adolf Hitler did not divert forces from the Caucasus campaign to the Stalingrad front and instead pressed on to the oilfields at Grozny and Baku. Therefore, the Axis forces in the game receive additional ground, air and logistical forces. The Soviets gain reserves which were otherwise committed to the Stalingrad operation. In the game, the Axis objective is to consolidate the Caucasus while the Soviet objective is to prevent this goal and launch a counterattack which will retake lost ground.

Each game turn represents two weeks to one month of operations, depending on the weather. Each hex on the map is 27 kilometers (approximately 16 miles) across. Ground units are corps, divisions, brigades, and regiments, with some special battalions. Each air unit represents the operations of a Luftwaffe Fliegerkorps or Soviet Air Army.

22x34 inch game map and a sheet of 228 9/16 inch counters.
